I read two graphic novels and one big book just this weekend! Cecil Castellucci's PLAIN Janes series is fun, and Before I Fall was slow to start but really excellent! And I am still thinking about Lian Hearn's Otori series, and the Montmaray books by Michelle Cooper are also good reads.

Summer Reading

I think that I will do some re-reading this summer. I saw the new film version of Jane Eyre, so that is on top of the list. Also, Martha said she was re-reading Pride and Prejudice, so, then so will I. I also saw a copy of A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, which I used to read annually, but haven't since Grandpa died, and certainly have avoided since Daddy died. But Chet bats lefty, so, I put it on my shelf. Also, I think I'll re-visit (isn't it the same thing, really), the Five Women complilation of some of Robert Musils short work, and I'll probably not be able to resist some YA...I was actually thinking of Harry, just to take a break from the usual Tamora series, although maybe a close reading of Melina Marchetta's early stuff and some Kristin Cashore. And Sonya Sones, but that is about an hour.

And there's plenty of new stuff to read, too. Everything But the Squeal, On Rue Tatin, and some new stuff that I don't remember.

Julie.

November, 2002 - December, 2010.

I'm remembering my dad on his birthday by raising money for the American Cancer Society's 5K Walk on the Coney Island Boardwalk. We spent a lot of time down there with him, and the event is sponsored by the Coney Island Cyclones, the Class A Affiliates of the Mets, so it is extra appropriate. Please participate by joining my team or by donating to it.

The Flying Pacartnips were the team of acrobats, made up of my dad, my sister and myself, and our cousins. Our major trick was walking up dad's legs and then flipping over.
